I’ve always loved Christmas. Despite the cynical commerce and the ever-earlier decorations, there’s something that still captivates the little boy in me. And since the arrival of our wee girl almost eight years ago, that magic has grown stronger if anything.
So it was a sheer delight to be putting up the tree in Treescape with my wife yesterday. It also gave us an opportunity to try something a little more contemporary. We’ve always gone for the real deal back at home, with dropped needles, sap and all. But here in Elie, we’ve kept with the elegant, understated vibe of the house itself.
We have guests arriving tomorrow (6th Dec) and then a family reunion from Hong Kong and Scotland for Christmas week. Then it’s a whole family get-together for Hogmanay. All of which means, sadly, that we won’t be able to stay in Treescape ourselves this festive period.
Still, at least we had fun with the tree.
